FAMILIES ON THE EDGE
COMMUNITY INTERVENTIONS WORKSHOP SERIES
For Family Members and Concerned Significant Others(CSO's)
September 19, 1:00-2:30pm
Keeler Women's Center and Intelligent Interventions are happy to provide an instructional and inspirational workshop for family members, CSO's(Concerned Significant Others) and/or friends of anyone that has a direct or indirect relationship with an addict to assist them in learning the intervention process. The workshop will include information, discussion, role-playing, and more. The participant will learn new skills to cope with old problems. Some of the components include staying safe by assessing situations and outlining the context in which substance abusing behavior occurs, how to use positive reinforcements and how to put the responsibility back where it belongs allowing the abuser and/or substance user to suffer the natural consequences for their using behavior. Specific concepts highlighted are self-mastery, codependency, spirituality and the process of change in order to interact differently and more effectively with a resistant addict.
